Keep your knees happy
Knees take a surprisingly large load in activity. If your knees sometimes get crabby, Rolfing® Structural Integration may benefit you by improving alignment and releasing strains in your structure.
However, I also think it’s important to pay attention to the strength and mobility of the muscles that support the knee. There are good exercises that you can do at home without any special equipment.
Another helpful action, if one is carrying a few extra pounds, is to consider reducing weight. Even a little bit helps. One study found that for every pound of weight lost, there is a four-pound reduction in the load exerted on the knee with each step taken (Messier et al).
